At the confluence of the Tamis and the Danube, there is the Pančevo trademark.
The only pair of lighthouses along the entire course of the Danube. which is why they are unique in all of Europe.
Pančevo lighthouses, or "water gates of the city", as they are also called, were built in 1909 during the golden age of steamboat traffic on the Danube.
Today, they are there as a reminder that even a hundred years ago, Pančevo was a large industrial center whose rivers transported salt, silk, beer, bricks,
timber and people. Back then, traffic on the river was unthinkable without them, especially at the beginning of the last century
when it was decided to shorten the course of the Tamish by digging a canal.
The road to the lighthouse passes through a forest that is often flooded during spring and autumn.
