In 2019, the city of Pancevo celebrated the glory of the city for the first time, on the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, popularly known as the Virgin Mary.
The Assembly of the city of Pancevo at its session on July 17, 2019 made a decision to make August 28, the great Christian holiday of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a city celebration.
Mrs. Vera Carina, the conductor of the Pancevo Serbian Church Singing Society recalls that in 1887, Archpriest Vasa Živković and the then director of the PSCPD, Dimitrije Mita Topalović, agreed that before and after the Vespers service, determined according to the Typik, the choir would sing. While the choir sings, the clergy continue reading prayers to strengthen the religious feelings of the faithful towards the suffering of the Lord Jesus Christ as they approach the Tomb and kiss the Shroud.
